Today many teens are choosing breast implant surgery for the ideal sweet sixteen or graduation gift. Parents are opting to provide their daughters with the surgery as a way to help their girls feel good about their appearance. Many young girls buy into the image of large breasts as the perfect appearance of feminine beauty. Just as it is important to ask an older patient their reasons for breast implants, it is even more important with a young girl. A younger patient can experience the same benefit of self-confidence and increased happiness with their own appearance, but they should not set unrealistic expectations for the surgery. Questioning these girls before they undergo surgery is the very least that doctors should do for their patients.
